There are always so many excuses to not redecorate: you don’t have the time, the money, or the help. But how about all of the reasons to redecorate? Spring is an excellent time of year in which to spruce up your home. The sun is peeking out, the kids might be home on spring break to help, tax refunds recently came through so you have a little extra cash lining your pockets, so now is the time to give your home a 2015 face lift! Take a look at this year’s spring decorating ideas from Floor Coverings International of Hillsborough, and you just might find an idea you just can’t resist.
Paint with Pastel
Pastels were in last year and they’re in again this year! Soften the look of your living room with pastel blues, greens, and purples. Paint an old table (or find one at the local consignment store!) a pastel color as an accent piece. Perhaps you’ll find a set of throw pillows to add to that white couch in order to make it pop. Try and take pastels into the kitchen for a change of pace. Have you ever seen old magazines from the 1950s with pastel colored appliances? Well those softly-colored accessories are back in style, so use pastel accents to bring a touch of retro flair to your home Start small and welcome a new set of pastel colored bowls into your life, or go daring and pick up that pink mixer from the antique shop, to refurbish it for your vintage, pastel kitchen. Remember, spring is all about color, no matter how soft or vibrant!
A huge trend this year is decals. These usually go on walls, but they can also be applied to ceilings and floors as well (preferably where there isn’t much foot traffic). There are many great sites to find decals and won’t cost very much either, so if you’re looking to redecorate on a budget, this is a great option. Decals can be anything from silhouettes of tree branches to maps, quotes, or mantras. There are many sites that will even let you custom order personalized decals such as an image of something very specific, like your wedding vows. This new trend has replaced wallpaper in a hip way.
You can never go wrong with flowers! Everyone lights up when they receive a bouquet, even your home! Flowers will brighten up any living space, even on the gloomiest day. Not only will they spiff up the area for you and your guests, the room will smell wonderfully fragrant as well!
We just mentioned fresh flowers, but how about something a little less high-maintenance? Fake plants are a great source of decoration. This is a type of embellishment that is a bit subtler to guests, something that will catch the corner of their eyes, without being an overbearing centerpiece. Find the right kind of green, and fake plants can simply add a bit of color, pulling the room together. Inexpensive and low-maintenance, how can you say no?
The above ideas are yours for the taking, so let the creative juices flow!
